Deidre Douglas
Deidre Douglas is in her thirtieth year of teaching in the Cypress Fairbanks School District in Houston, Texas. Ms. Douglas received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University. There she was named the Presser Scholar and the Lenvill Martin Outstanding Music Graduate.
Ms. Douglas’ choirs have received numerous sweepstakes ratings in Contest and Sightreading, Best in Class and Outstanding Performance at festivals, and performed at the annual TMEA Convention. She has served on the Prescribed Music List committee and the choral textbook committee for Hal Leonard/Glenco. She was selected "Spotlight Teacher" at Labay Middle School in the 1999-2000, and as the 2012 "Spotlight Teacher" of Cypress Falls High School. In 2010, she was named the "Outstanding Music Alumna of the Year" at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Ms. Douglas is a frequent adjudicator, clinician and soloist throughout the state and surrounding states. She is a member of TMEA, TCDA, TMAA, Mu Phi Epsilon, Alpha Chi and Pi Kappa Lambda. Deidre and her husband, BJ, have two daughters, Rebekah and Leah.
Some of her favorite activities include working in her yard, cooking, sewing, and crafts. Two of her favorite sports are softball and basketball. She also enjoys watching action packed movies with actors: Steven Segall, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, and Nicholas Cage—just to name a few.

Matthew Perez
Matthew Perez comes to the Cypress Falls family after completing his student teaching on campus in the Spring of 2012. Mr. Perez is a recent graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas with a Bachelor of Music Degree, emphasis on choral music. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Choral Conducting at Michigan State University.
A Cypress-Fairbanks school district native, Mr. Perez was the first recipient of the Merry Marcotte Memorial Vocal Scholarship. During his studies at Lamar University, Mr. Perez gained experience working with choirs by conducting the Lamar University A Cappella Choir in their Spring Concert and founding and conducting Lamar’s first ever student-led choral ensemble, "Cantore". Mr. Perez spent his extra time off campus as the Assistant Choral Director of the Southeast Texas Children’s Chorus, the Production Assistant for Opera Beaumont and the Concert Manager for the Beaumont Interfaith Choral Society. On campus, Mr. Perez served as choral assistant, choral librarian, workshop coordinator, Summer Choir Camp Administrator, recital clerk and President of Delta Omicron, a professional music fraternity. Mr. Perez is a member of ACDA, TCDA, TMEA and Delta Omicron.
The recipient of a TMEA Student Teaching scholarship and a TCDA scholarship, Mr. Perez also completed an extensive research study on Choral Rehearsal Techniques as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar.
In addition to working at Cypress Falls, Mr. Perez has clinic and worked with several choirs around the area, including the Houston Boys Choir. Mr. Perez also enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and stays busy keeping up with his ten nieces and nephews. In his free time, Mr. Perez enjoys attending a variety of concerts and spending time with his friends and family.
