Meet the Directors
Director: Deidre Douglas
Biography:

Deidre Douglas is in her twentieth year of teaching in the Cypress Fairbanks School District in Houston, Texas. Ms. Douglas received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University. There she was named the Presser Scholar and the Lenvill Martin Outstanding Music Graduate.

Ms. Douglas’ choirs have received numerous sweepstakes ratings in Contest and Sightreading, Best in Class and Outstanding Performance at festivals, and performed at the annual TMEA Convention. She has served on the Prescribed Music List committee and the choral textbook committee for Hal Leonard/Glenco. She was selected "Spotlight Teacher" at Labay Middle School in the 1999-2000, school year.

Ms. Douglas is a frequent adjudicator, clinician and soloist throughout the state and surrounding states. She is a member of TMEA, TCDA, TMAA, Mu Phi Epsilon, Alpha Chi and Pi Kappa Lambda. Deidre and her husband, BJ, have two daughters, Rebekah and Leah, and their Boston terrier, “Flash”.

Some of her favorite activities include working in her yard, cooking, sewing, and crafts. Two of her favorite sports are softball and basketball. She also enjoys watching action packed movies with actors: Steven Segall, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, and Nicholas Cage—just to name a few.

Director: Katherine McGee
Biography:

Katherine McGee is a choral director and accompanist from Sugar Land, Texas. She received her Bachelor’s of Music and Master of Arts in Teaching from Trinity University in San Antonio.

While at Trinity, she studied conducting with Dr. Scott MacPherson and voice with Baritone, Chia-wei Lee. As the undergraduate choral assistant, she conducted the Trinity Choir and University Chorus in concert.

As an accompanist, Ms. McGee has played for numerous schools in concert and in UIL Competition, including Barbara Bush Middle School, Truitt Middle School, Judson High School, Cypress Falls High School and others. She has also presented her work in South American music at the Texas Music Educators Convention in San Antonio. Ms. McGee has sung with the San Antonio Chamber Choir, a professional ensemble that performs a variety of the finest choral music throughout Texas and the United States. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society.

Currently, Ms. McGee is in her 2nd year as the Assistant Choir Director at Cypress Falls High School in Houston, working with Deidre Douglas.

Some of Ms. McGee's favorite pastimes are reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards and board games, and hiking. She loves playing disc golf and will occasionally show off her skills at Guitar Hero. If she could not work at Cy-Falls, she would want to be an American Idol back-up singer.
