Meet the Directors
Director: Deidre Douglas
Biography:

Deidre Douglas is in her twenty-second year of teaching in the Cypress Fairbanks School District in Houston, Texas. Ms. Douglas received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University. There she was named the Presser Scholar and the Lenvill Martin Outstanding Music Graduate.

Ms. Douglas’ choirs have received numerous sweepstakes ratings in Contest and Sightreading, Best in Class and Outstanding Performance at festivals, and performed at the annual TMEA Convention. She has served on the Prescribed Music List committee and the choral textbook committee for Hal Leonard/Glenco. She was selected "Spotlight Teacher" at Labay Middle School in the 1999-2000, school year. This past year, she was named the "Outstanding Music Alumna of the Year" at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Ms. Douglas is a frequent adjudicator, clinician and soloist throughout the state and surrounding states. She is a member of TMEA, TCDA, TMAA, Mu Phi Epsilon, Alpha Chi and Pi Kappa Lambda. Deidre and her husband, BJ, have two daughters, Rebekah and Leah, and their Boston terrier, “Flash”.

Some of her favorite activities include working in her yard, cooking, sewing, and crafts. Two of her favorite sports are softball and basketball. She also enjoys watching action packed movies with actors: Steven Segall, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, and Nicholas Cage—just to name a few.

Director: Lelah Loftin
Biography:

Lelah Loftin is in her thirteenth year of teaching, where the past nine years have been in the Cypress Fairbanks School District in Houston, Texas. Ms. Loftin received her Bachelor of Music Education from Northwestern State University, located in Natchitoches, Louisiana with an emphasis on voice and a minor in piano.

Ms. Loftin is the assistant choir director at Cy-Falls HS. She conducts the Concert Treble and Beginning Women’s choirs. Prior to Cy-Falls, Ms. Loftin was the head choir director at Campbell Middle School, where under her leadership, the program grew from 50 students to over 300 students. Her choirs have consistently received numerous sweepstakes ratings in Concert and Sightreading, Best in Class and Outstanding Performance at Director’s Choice Festival. In 2006 her Advanced Treble choir performed with the Memorial Middle School Choir, under the direction of Eddie Quaid, for a Masterwork's concert of the "Messe Breve". Many of her students have continued to sing in high school choir and have made the Texas All-State choirs.

Ms. Loftin is an adjudicator, clinician, and soloist throughout the Houston area. She sings as a scholarship singer at St. Thomas. She is a member of TMEA, TCDA, and TMAA.

Ms. Loftin enjoys going to the movies with her friends, spending time with her sisters, reading books, and spending time with her neice and nephews.
